systray bug with kde
« on: December 04, 2004, 01:42:41 PM »

hi dudes!

I've found an anoying bug... when I select no "systray integration please" in amule prefs, I've get the space for one icon in kde systray and one amule icon in the top left of my screen, wich is usable (I can do everything I do when it's on the systray).

So theres some work that needs to be done here...

amule cvs with wx 2.5.3+offcial patch+gtk2+unicode

And i noticed that amule's systray integration seems not to work witht GNOME 2.8 shipped with Fedora Core 3. The icon appears in a separate window, not in the systray.

Regards.

AS we talk about systray-icon: is it a bug or a feature that in current CVS systray icon doesn't show the download-speed bar? I have only a static icon without the bar on the right side of it.

Well, aMule currently uses different tray code for wxWidgets-2.4.2 and 2.5.*. For 2.5.* versions, tray code is TESTING, and is fully wx based. So, tray icon in a separate window is most likely a wx bug (actually, this is the case for me too), and the speed-bar also has to do something with wx - I don't know much about it, Kry was the one who created it.
As far as I know, the Preferences->Systray Integration has no effect on the new tray - though "No systray..." should work, it needs to be checked for.

about upgrading to gnome 2.8, i found this in bugs.debian.org:

When upgrade from GNOME 2.6 to 2.8 using
# apt-get dist-upgrade
command, the dpkg-reconfigure reported two errors:

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Setting up desktop-file-utils (0.9-1) ...
File '/usr/share/applications/sodipodi.desktop' contains invalid MIME
type 'imag e/svg+xml,image/svg' that contains invalid characters
[Invalid UTF-8] Could not parse file
'/usr/share/applications/alc.desktop': desk top entry contain line
'Comment[fr]=Cr\xe9ateur de liens ed2k d'aMule' which is not UTF-8
---------------------------------------------------------------------

It reports these errors twice: reconfiguring desktop-file-utils and
file-roller.

Removing national characters from French comment from alc.desctop and
"image/svg+xml" from sodipodi.desktop finished reconfiguration:
# dpkg-reconfigure desktop-file-utils file-roller
without warnings nor errors.
