download bug?
« on: January 31, 2005, 06:05:05 AM »

amule 2.0.0rc8, fedora core 3

downloading a file called El******.(2005).DVDRip-Widescreen.*********.[AutoGK.XviD-1.0.2.MP#-128.ABR].*******.avi

the file is 726MB. when I download it, in the "transferred" bar I get kilobytes but in the "completed" bar I get MB. 20 KB transferred becomes 20MB completed.
the file is done in a matter of minutes, only 700KB are actually transferred but 700MB are "completed", then the file is shown as "complete" and the size on disk is more than 700MB.

obviously the file doesn't play, I can't even right-click->properties under windows because the windows shell goes crazy (explorer at 100%CPU, no properties page appears)

this is the only file where I've had this problem. Is this a bug, or some sort of malicious file, and if so how is it possible?

hey

1st: NEVER EVER POST FULL NAMES OF FILES HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2nd: the file might be brocken over the ed2k net, its not an amule problem
3rd: as it seams you have windows try emule under there just to make real sure.

parked in a bad part of town, with the doors unlocked, the key in
the ignition and a Post-It note on the dashboard saying, "Please
don't steal this."

The file is a fake. It's simply a file full of zeroes, and because of that, the compression implemented in amule compresses it a lot, that's why it transfers just 700kB but the file completes. Put a comment on it telling it's fake.
