salve!
ho una distro mandrake powerpack 10.1
ho installato amule scaricando il pacchetto rpm dal sito, non l'ho dunque compilato.
ha funzionato bene fino all'altra sera.
lo lanciavo dall'icona sulla barra delle applicazioni e tutto andava bene. poi ieri mattina ho voluto fare la stessa cosa... ma a parte la finestra con la scritta "sto avviando amule", non succede nulla.
se lo lancio da terminale con permessi di root, funziona.
secondo voi?

Dovresti provare a lanciarlo da terminale loggato come utente normale e vedere cosa dice.

Puoi anche provare a cancellare (fai backup) la dir .aMule e il file .eMule della tua home.

ho provato a cancellare le cartelle suddette.
rilancio con l'icona e mi dice "questa è la prima volta che esegui etc." ma poi non sucecede niente
se lancio da terminale come user normale, ecco il risultato:

In genere questo problema è dovuto a un problema nei file di configurazione e cancellandoli dovrebbe risolversi....

Non saprei, ho visto che hai postato anche in inglese, magari qualche dev li
dapra aiutarti...

Comunque se come utente root parte allora cancellando .aMule e .eMule del tuo utente DEVE partire. Prova magari a crearti al volo un utente di prova e controlla se li' parte.

In ogni caso, che versione hai di aMule?

caro frank,
la mia versione è la rpm per mandrake 2.0.0rc8... l'ultima stabile che ho trovato sul sito.
dunque. da terminale come superuser parte e funziona. da terminale come semplice utente mi dà il messaggio che ho già riportato.
ho provato a cancellare la directory .amule (ed .xmule, perché io non ho .emule) sia da /home/user, sia da /root... che non si sa mai.
ho provato poi a lanciare il programma da terminale come utente semplice. mi dice che è la prima volta che eseguo amule e poi niente. mentre se lo lancio da root fa la stessa cosa ma poi parte.
la cosa strana è che fino alla sera prima il programma funzionava perfettamente. ho anche provato a rimuoverlo attraverso il MCC e reinstallarlo ma senza risultati.
poi ho creato un utente al volo per fare la prova ma sai che quando cerco di loggarmi mi da 1000 problemi perche dicè che non riesce ad accedere a $home? allora l'ho l anciato con l'altra interfaccia grafica, quella semplice, parte ma poi non riesco ad accedere alla shell... boh...

seconda parte. ho provato a lanciare l'ultimo cvs. solita cosa... ./configure poi make e poi make install...
ma ovviamente arrivati a make mi dà una serie di errori per cui non riesco a continuare...

già dal configure mi sembra di vedere qualche problema (wx?)

da mcc disinstalla la vecchia versione di amule e tutte le librerie wx. poi installa wxgtk, wxgtk-devel e wxbase dal sito di amule.

riprova il configure e facci sapere.

ps: per caso, fra quando amule funzionava a quando non ha più funzionato hai installato altro software, magari forzando l'aggiornamento di librerie già installate?

pps: ho visto solo ora che il file per mdk 10.1 include anche le librerie wx; considera eventualmente anche l'ipotesi di reinstallarlo dopo aver fatto le cancellazioni di cui di parlavo

in effetti ho fatto l'aggiornamento di alcune cose che ho trovato in updates del MCC... e gia avevo notato una regressione di kopete... dal mio 0.92 a quello 0.84!
dopo provo seguendo le tue indicazioni e ti faccio sapere!

Ti ho consigliato di ricompilare per avere comunque l'ultima versione, cvs che corregge parecchi problemi, ma non credo che il tuo problema si risolva in questo modo e cmq ti ha già risposto reeky al riguardo.

Dunque .eMule non è una directory ma un file. Magari non lo trovi perchè cerchi una directory. Da come descrivi il tuo problema sono convinto che cancellando quel file amule riparta.

Altrimenti non so.

caro frankk, rispondo solo ora perché sono uscito ma prima ho provato a seguire passo passo le tue indicazioni, rimuovendo tutto e reinstallando quello che mi  avevi detto (prendendolo dal sito). poi ho cercato di fare ./configure, make e make install ma ho avuto nuovi problemi. allora ho reinstallato la versione rpm con le librerie annesse, presente sul sito, sono andato nella directory dov'era il file .emule, l'ho cancellato ed ora riesco a lanciare il programma come facevo prima! ti ringrazio!
però vorrei chiederti: come mai l'aver cancellato quel file mi fa funzionare di nuovo amule in modalità user? curiosità da neofita.

caro pestekkorna, purtroppo amule ha ancora alcuni bug. Quello che hai incontrato tu in particolare può essere dovuto da uno o entrambe le seguenti situazioni: per qualche motivo è stato scritto qualcosa in maniera non corretta nel file .eMule oppure aMule scrive nel file qualcosa che sarebbe corretto ma per qualche bug in lettura viene interpretato male e quindi fa crashare il programma.

Comunque il problema è noto e si sta lavorando per risolverlo.

Speriamo che venga eliminato almeno nella versione 2.0.0 final.

è bello sapere di poter contare su persone come te, anche solo per una spiegazione. molte volte mi capita di dover fare delle cose per risolvere problemi su linux ma vorrei capire anche perché faccio determinate cose e come esse agiscono e consentono il corretto funzionamento del tutto.
