close buttons and cpu usage
« on: April 26, 2005, 10:29:00 PM »

hi there

am i supposed to report bugs in the cvs version?

i have wxwindows 2.6 so that could be causing the problems, i didn't have them in 2.0 rc8

1. the close buttons on the search tabs don't do anything (should close the tab)

2. my cpu usage is very high. don't have a graphical monitor so can't say exactly but it seems to average at 15% with some spikes up to over 50

if you need help replicating the bug or something, i'll try to help

cheers

Please run "amule --version" and tell us the output (unless you have an earlier version that rc7, since newer versions have some useful info in the --version text). ;)

do you have verbose enabled in amule-prefs?
since wxgtk-2.6 and amule-cvs are really great here with cpu and mem usage,
and I also use gtk2 which should be worse

The close button on search tabs doesn't work for me either. I have wxwidgets 2.6.0 and amule cvs 26.04.2005

well gtk1 or gtk2?

looks to me like a gtk1 bug, since it works here with gtk2....

yeah. recompiled wxwindows with gtk2 and now the close buttons work. cpu usage is also better but still annoying.

when amule is minimized, cpu is normally between 5-10%, when maximized, 10-20%

i still doing several fast downloads (80k/s together), will let you know if that's the reason

I made closing of tabs use the old code for gtk1 while wx doesn't fix that.

yes it looks like extra downloads increase cpu usage. uploads don't seem to affect it.

but i can guarantee it was not like this before because now i cannot play xmame and i could before.

by the way, this was one of the reasons i stopped using emule all that time ago. cpu usage for no good reason. any chance it's got something to do with that kademlia stuff? i think you've been working on that..

ah, could this be because of the sorting? i see the download list is now sorted on the fly (wasn't before)
