aMule 2.0.3 on Tiger not connecting
« on: June 21, 2005, 08:32:32 AM »

I d/l and ran aMule on my Mac but upon starting up it reports the following in the Log:

2005-06-21 09:38:53: Creditfile loaded, 0 clients are known
2005-06-21 09:38:53: Loaded ipfilter with 0 new IP addresses.

2005-06-21 09:38:53:  - This is aMule 2.0.3 using wxMac v2.6.1 (Unicoded) based on eMule.
2005-06-21 09:38:53:    Running on MacOS (Darwin 7.9.0 Power Macintosh)
2005-06-21 09:38:53:  - Visit http://www.amule.org to check if a new version is available.

2005-06-21 09:38:53: Loading server.met file: /Users/alex/.aMule/server.met
2005-06-21 09:38:53: 0 servers in server.met found
2005-06-21 09:38:53: No part files found
2005-06-21 09:38:53: External connections disabled in config file
2005-06-21 09:38:53: Found 0 known shared files
2005-06-21 09:38:53: Connecting
2005-06-21 09:38:53: No valid servers to connect in serverlist found
2005-06-21 09:38:53: AICH Thread: Syncronization thread started.
2005-06-21 09:38:53: AICH Thread: Masterhashes of known files have been loaded.
2005-06-21 09:38:53: AICH Thread: No new files found.
2005-06-21 09:38:53: AICH Thread: Terminated.

I then try clicking on Connect. The following is added to the log:

2005-06-21 09:39:07: Connecting
2005-06-21 09:39:07: No valid servers to connect in serverlist found
2005-06-21 09:39:07: Disconnected

Does this make any sense to you? Am I not doing something or doing something wrong?

Thanks, people.

Yes.  You have to download a list of servers before you can connect.  The server list comes in a file called server.met.  When you run aMule, it has the URL of a server.met already entered for you at the top of the servers page.  All you have to do is press the button to the left of the URL.  Wait a few moments while the file is downloaded, and then the server list will be filled.

After that, press Connect and everything should work.

There's some more useful information in the wiki at http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/Getting_Started.
