Has Kademlia taken over from Edonkey already?
« on: December 04, 2005, 02:50:59 PM »

In the user and file statistic of current (Nov. 2005) cvs amule there are three times more users and files shown for Kademlia than for Edonkey network.

But the number of donkey users changes very heavily (sometimes it doubles for a short time), can one trust it?

Can one switch of edonkey network already?

i don't think you can. i don't believe you should. both complement perfectly well and that's what you shoudl do. what's more, kad is not totally implemented in aMule yet. It will be completed in 2.1.0 thought.

Works great here for a "not implemented feature" :)

No need for evil servers anymore, kad-only works really fine.

Personally I wouldn't mind dropping support for servers, but that would probably cause shrieks of outrage throughout the aMule community. ;)

I also run Kad-only mode here just fine....
search works aswell jacobo :P

only difference to ed2k network is the source-getting in the beginning is a bit slower, but that is no big deal in my eyes

Serach works. The only think that doesn't yet is extended options on kad search.

It seems, that the number of users shown for edonkey is related to the number of servers in the server list. So the number of edonkey users shown is so little on my mule, because i have only four servers in my list. Right?

So there are more edonkey than kademlia users and the answer to the question in subject is: no.

the ed2k network simple has more clients which support it, so thats why its larger...

the kad network atm is only supported by eMule > v.040  and aMule-cvs afaik
