aMule freezes my System when running xawtv
« on: January 01, 2006, 11:18:21 AM »

When running aMule and xawtv at the same time, my system freezes completely. A reboot is the only way to get things running again.

I never had this problem in the past, but this is since a month or two.
I installed aMule 2.0.3 from the freshrpms repo ( no funny stuff installed .... all out of the box ).
I had a problem with xawtv at first. It is not in any FC4 repo .... so I installed the one from FC3.
Then all went wrong .... System freezes randomly and I even lost my /var directory completely.
I was forced to install FC4 again from scratch.... and of cource aMule ...
Later I found out, that aMule with xawtv dont like each other very much on FC3 either ( runs on another partition on my box ).
I cannot use another tv application ( tvtime -  default in FC4- because of my on-board video .... framebuffer problems )... besides that ... I like xawtv ...

Now I am stuck and need some advice on how to tackle this.
I could not find any mailing with related problems anywhere.... HELP !!

aMule freezes my System when running xawtv [solved]
« Reply #1 on: January 11, 2006, 08:16:24 PM »

Hi,

The problem solved itself with the new release of aMule ( 2.1.0 ).
At the same time I found a xawtv for FC4 at ATrpms ....
The only thing now is, that I am not sure which one ( aMule or xawtv ) caused the problem in the first place ... anyway .... problem is gone now ..

Thanks for thinking about it with me ... that was a big help for sure ....  :P
