firewall detection
« on: May 06, 2006, 07:40:23 PM »

I am new to amule and everytime I open it up I get the kAD offline and firewall detected error.I don't know how to configure the firewall and I haven't seen anything on here that is clear cut.I have the new mac mini with intel running osx tiger 10.4.6.If possible can someone walk me through the setup for it. Is it a gnutella network like limewire.

Mac OS X's firewall is off by default.  If you didn't turn it on, it's probably not on.  To check, use System Preferences and open the Sharing pane.  There's a tab for the firewall.

Other than a firewall, a router is the most likely reason for getting Low-ID and having Kad reporting that it's firewalled.  You need to configure your router to forward the ports that aMule is using (as shown in aMule's preferences) from the router to your Mac.  Check http://www.portforward.com for instructions.
