it refuses to connect to any server.
« on: September 12, 2006, 07:48:30 AM »

Bah.
It had been working so well.
I have had aMule for a year.  I have never had any problems.
I don't know what I have done, but now it won't connect to any of the servers on the list.
I have the lastest version out.

It keeps on saying "Connection Lost"
and attempts to connect to other servers on the list....but either it's timed out, or it just flat out will not connect.

what is the problem!!!!!???????

Hi.
In amule/Preferences/General, could you uncheck the "Automatically check new versions  at startup" and see if this help ?

I have exactly the same pb.

Switching to a newly created user showed me that amule consider my port 4662 unavailable, which is clearly not the case.

connection lost or overtimed all the time

@clinvest:
If the aMule running under the new user tells you that port 4662 is unavailable you are either running aMule under the old user at the same time or another ed2k client (edonkey2000 or mldonkey) that also uses that port.

Make sure you have your port forwarding set up properly:
Quote
You need to forward the ports that aMule uses in your router. Take a look at http://portforward.com/routers.htm, that page has detailed step-by-step instructions for pretty much every router on the market.

aMule uses three ports (see Preferences->Connection) that need to be forwarded:
  • a client TCP port
  • a client UDP port (this is the above port +3)
  • and an eMule extended UDP port
Also, if you are running any firewall software (e.g., OS X's built-in firewall, which you can control via System Preferences->Sharing->Firewall) on your computer, you need to open the above ports there as well.

You can use the connection tester to check whether the client TCP port can be reached from the outside, that is, whether it is forwarded properly in your router and not blocked by any firewall software.

Good luck. :)

Also, try adding the following server manually (DonkeyServer No1):
ed2k://|server|62.241.53.2|4242|/

Finally, you might want to figure out if your provider filters ed2k packets. One of my machines is on a network where ed2k packets are filtered. There, I can't connect to any servers or other clients either.
