problemes of sources
« on: October 30, 2006, 09:45:18 PM »

Hello,

I have a mac intel 10.4.8 20' with amule 2 1 3.

My parameters are the following : DL =0 (unlimited) UP = 16 friends slots = 3 Ko/s

TCP = 4242   TCP = 4241

My problem is I do not have a lot of sources.

Could you tell me how can I fix it ?

Because my rate of download is very bad (between 20 et 40 Ko) and I am in High ID

Thanks

First of all, I would not call a download rate between 20-40kb/s "very bad". Second, if you don't have a lot of sources for the files you are downloading, maybe those files are not very popular?

The only problematic thing would be if you initially got a lot of sources and then lost many of them over a short period of time. If that happened, there would be some issues with your connection.

Merci Lionel.

Merci

More or less:

Thank you Lionel.

The problem I have is when I select a file which has many sources, I select it, except during download phase practically all sources disappear

Second question: How can I preview files during loading?

Finally, my settings, seem they correct to you?

In the menu 'Preferences', the parameter port TCP in the 'Remote control' section, do one has to put the same like in the 'Connection' section 'TCP standard client port'?

Thanks for the translation, wuischke. You're proficiency at like 5 languages never ceases to amaze me. ;)

Do you mean the file is shown in the search results list as having a lot of sources? And then when you add it to your downloads aMule does not find many sources for it?
Or do you mean that the file is listed in the download window with a lot of sources and those sources disappear over time?

Take a look at the README.Mac.txt file that comes with aMule. It has a whole section on how to setup aMule for previewing files.

Actually they should NOT be the same number. The remote control port is for controlling aMule from a different machine. You usually only need this if you want to control, for instance, your aMule at home from your office computer.

I had the same issue (sources slowly disappearring) and it turned out to be a security problem...

This happened after an upgrade (from Ubuntu feisty to gusty). When I restarted aMule, nothing would download anymore. I deleted all the .aMule folder, restarted aMule, tried to download something and it worked. Pointed the incoming/temp directories to the previous location => same problem occured again.

I first thought that it was because of spaces in the directory path, or because it was on a different filesystem. In the end it seems that it was just a security issue. After changing the security on the temp and incoming folders to 755, I was able to download again (I even managed to restore my old preferences). I had to cancel all the existing downloads though, but at least I was able to start new one correctly.

Hope this will help.
