Downloads stop
« on: August 20, 2007, 02:22:32 PM »

Hello all. G4 Powerbook, 1.5GHz, 768 M. Tiger latest. d/l the August csv last night.

When I run aMule, it works fine - well, the ratio of down to up is between 0 and  .1 or so, but I'm not on about that now - but only while I'm actively using the computer. Leaving it for a few minutes (long enough for the power saver to kick in probably) and uploads continue but downloads stop until after I use the keyboard or track pad. Then they slowly start up again.

I was hoping the csv would cure this as well as allow higher d/l rates, but it does  not. I do have BOINC, which hosts SETI and Rosetta for Berkley, but that seems to work fine with Azuresus, for example. However, right now, only running aMule.

I read through the posts back a ways and found two related to crashes when screen dark and screensaver; I have seen aMule become completely unresponsive on coming back from that state, and even this morning, there was a delay in the screen reappearing, but never a crash. And it's become unresponsive at other times, too, but I can't categorize those.

I have tried to set all the power down features off while connected to the wall, though the screen still dims.

I find it a little tiring to sit with the computer just to fondle the touchpad every thirty or forty seconds so aMule will maintain d/l's.

I'm hoping you can point me to something in my set up which will mitigate the problem. TIA!

Not just a bump, but I took a screen shot last night, which has the downloads stopping event quite near the end of the graph, but also an event I've see a few time: both u/l and d/l report a very high number - over the limit set in prefs - and then drop precipitously, either to zero or close to it. Since this happens whilst unattended, it's hard to say exactly what's going on.

Any thoughts? I feel confident the problem is in my set-up, since I can't believe that others would not have complained, otherwise. Thanks for any help.
