Can amule handle files bigger that 2GB ..
« on: March 23, 2004, 05:44:28 PM »

Hi,

I installed amule a couple of days ago. I am running Gentoo, do not worry I installed amule according to the instructions I found on this web site.
Everything is working almost fine (I'll come to this later), but among the files I am downloading is a file which is larger than 2GB. For that file amule is driving crazy. First of all it can not keep a constant d/l speed and secondly (this is the most important) the remaining size does not decrease. I have about 700 MB to d/l (the total size of the file is 2.7GB) and when it stops d/l the remaining size is 731MB and when it starts d/l the remaining size is 747MB and it keeps decreasing.
Now, for example it stopped d/l and the remaining size is 743.40MB.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Ok, I downloaded the cvs version (amule-cvs-20040322). Since it needs libcrypto, I emerged (remember I run Gentoo) crypto++. This is the correct file.

configure  run without any problem
and then make gave the following error
g++  -g     -o amulecmd  amulecmd-TextClient.o amulecmd-MD5Sum.o amulecmd-ECSocket.o -L/home/vasilis/Install/amule//lib -pthread -lwx_base-2.4 -L/usr/lib -lcurl -lz -lssl -lcrypto -ldl -lssl -lcrypto -ldl -lcryptopp
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.2/../../../../i686-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: cannot find -lcryptopp

What is this lcryptopp file?
I downloaded the crypto++ source file and compile it myself. After the compilation was over, I could not find "lcryptopp "

Do I need to do any trick?

Thank you

RE: Can amule handle files bigger that 2GB .. amule cvs failed
« Reply #10 on: March 23, 2004, 10:02:04 PM »

I installed amule cvs 20040322.

When it started it told me that several *.met files might be corrupted. The second time I started amule it did not say anything about it.

I was observing the remaining size for the file that is greater than 2GB. It was fluctuating. Two minutes after I started amule and while I was download with 50KB the remaining size is 736.28MB and it stopped d/l!!!

Also, if I right click on the file and select "show file details" it says that only 15% is available. When in fact I have ~73% and the progress bar has a dark blue color.

I must be doing something wrong....

Any help is greatly appreciated

Thank you

You are not going to like it :D

Is Gentoo related....
For some reason, the developers decided to name the libraries crypto++ instead of cryptopp

What can i say :)

The remaining size varies in the range 736-743 MB. When it drops below 736 it goes back to 743

It keeps saying that 15% of the file is available. Before I closed amule, 736MB were left to be downloaded, when I opened it, 743MB are left.
