Slot allocation
« on: January 26, 2008, 06:41:35 PM »

Hi- my client ignores the slot allocation rules unless upload is set to unlimited (0). Unless it is set to that, it will only upload to 2 and only 2 clients, dividing the upload speed (whatever it's set to) between each other. It does this regardless of the upload/slot allocation ratio is, be it 10/2, 9/3, 6/2, 16/4, 12/3, etc. And when upload speed is at unlimited, it still ignores what limit slot allocation is set to but begins connecting to about a dozen or so clients. Is there something in the preferences that would limit it this way, or is this a bug?

I'm experiencing a very similar problem an aMule 2.1.3 running on a Mac OS 10.4.11:

I've set my UL/speed limit to 12kBs and slot allocation to 2kBs
Here is what happens; most of the time it actually uploads to 6 clients, but ignores the slot allocation
The result is, that ie 4 clients get a higher upload speed than I've allocated whereas 2 clients get something around 0,2kBs
Why is this? Can I change it somewhere? Or is it a bug? Since I'm sharing rather rare files, I'm feeling bad for the poor guys who are stuck at such a low speed.

Thanks! Any input is very much appreciated!!

And thanx in generel to everybody involved in aMule: great app., works like a charm... you guys rock!

1. Is it a problem, if aMule doesn't respect the slot allocation? The amount of uploaded data is always the same!

2. The actual version of aMule is 2.2.2...

it's not really a problem, the only thing is that I'm sharing files that are quite rare... so the ppor guy who is stuck with 0,2kBs will have to wait for ages till he gets the file...

reg. the new version: can you tell me of a link that has it already compiled? I'm technically, hum...well... not so capable in order to do it myself. So I'd need a link where I can "just download" it and if possible also a place where I can look for "how to tranfer the current files & activities into the new version...

thanks for you help!

woow! thank you! do you know btw where I can find info on migrating from the older version? I'm downloading it now, and it looks like it"s not an update, but a complete version... so I'm afraid, that if I just drag it into the app-folder and throw the old one away, everything might be gone... mainly the stuff I'm downloading now... sorry for all these questions I'm afraid they might be really stupid... but i couldn't find any help for this (all I found was migrate-info from emule to amule)

thanks again!

All you have to do is "just drag it into the app-folder and throw the old one away".
