...and the dead awoke and are walking...
« on: July 07, 2009, 08:42:53 PM »

After more than 4 years of death-like sleep, beecrypt-4.2.0 is released.

Side note to our users: that was four-and-a-half year. No coding, no support, no nothing. So just be patient ;)

So...it'll be in Debian by 2018?

Seriously: This is good news albeit unexpected.

The name sounds likeit has  something to do with crypto stuff. Maybe an alternate lib to support.

OK, so let's see if cryptopp will be supported in future, or if I have to package beecrypt. Btw. 5.6.0 on debian makes no problems.

Cross your fingers.

I won't look at a lib that has been dead for 4 years. At least not until it has proved to be really alive again.

We don't have to upgrade, do we? Or is there a serious issue considering the current crypto library?

Currently, no. But there was a time with many crash reports due to bad crypto++ in distributions.

I checked it. It's a discussion about switching to a different crypto library. But it doesn't explain why there should be a new one.
