amule eats my cpu usage on my ubuntu 9.10

I have installed amule from the official repos but when I am using amule it eats the cpu usage to 50% avg.

Files need to be hashed before they can be shared or after they've been downloaded, to check integrity. You cannot disable this unless you don't share anything and don't download anything -- but then why using aMule?

It's a one-time procedure, thus if a file has been once hashed aMule won't re-hash it again unless you change the file.
