Well, i was also interested to run aMule in a console-only environment (e.g. in my residential linux gateway to share DSL connection to my house). As it haves only an EGA monitor and I really access it only via ssh, there's no manner to put X on it (not even x with frame buffer). So I was wondering in, like eMule, a 'daemonized' version, with an html server to manage it from browser or remote client (like giFT does too). Don't know if that could be an idea for the aMule project, but I think eMule is almost there (with it's web interface and mobilemule).
I would be glad to be able to run aMule on my console-only system!
