I updated fink packages list and found that an aMule package is
there, version 2.0.0-10rc7, dependent on wxmac, gettext and others.

Is this a good way to get latest CVS/Packages of aMule?
I think YES, of course. It would be cool too if aMule could be configured to compile
under X11/ Xfree86/wxGTK, just like the linux version.

Keep up with the grat work, my aMule still crashes occasionally,
and memory leaks aren't completely removed, but troubles happen
more rarely now.

hey

well rc7 is not hte best version for mac :)

there is rc8 already which runs out of the box under Mac :) no compiling nothing...

Yeah, I do know...
I suggested fink as a way to easily get latest CVS milestones, instead of having to download tarballs
and compiling / recompiling by hand.

i think for most mac users the binaries should be the option of choice. for the remaining users, the daily tar balls should work well imho.

the problem with fink is that it's not designed to serve daily code but rather snapshots that are at least somehow stable (in branch unstable) or really stable (in branch stable). it also doesn't have a version control system: you can only get the most recent version in each branch.
so i think including bigger releases in fink is not a bad thing if people have time to spare but i would not recommend getting amule via fink.

another point is that, particularly on the mac, we are using patches for wx that will probably take a couple month until they are included in the fink version of wx. so even if the amule code was updated frequently on fink, you would still often suffer from the old wx related bugs...
