you can just get the binary from http://download.berlios.de/amule/aMule.zip then you don't have to do any compilation yourself. just download it, expand it and double-click it... ;)
it's already a couple weeks old but it should be a great start.

EDIT:
kry just posted a new version, so forget about the last sentence of the original posting... ;)

Hi Linoel & Hopefully Kry,

EDIT:
kry just posted a new version, so forget about the last sentence of the original posting... ;)
I just downloaded this "new" version just for the heck of it. But it crashed after 15 h or something. Then i reverted to my self compiled version with the one wx-bug removed from this thread and it is running now since 24 h. So Kry, I'm just wondering: did you not remove this very bug in wx when compiling (then it didn't seem to have made it into CVS of wx which is a bit slow, imho) or is this a new bug worth makeing backtraces and all?

8o. Ok, I will get the newest daily-CVS-snapshot of amule and compilen it. If this amule crashes too, there's a new bug in amule. if not, there is a new bug in wx. At least, that's what logic would tell me - but then again, what has programming to do with logic hehe.
cheers sssnake

ssnake, could you then share with us your self-compiled version, or could we have a 24h working version ?
(mine also crashes after 15h or something...)

anyway, good job to all and thanks for amule.

hi,
i have zipped a precompiled version of aMule 200 rc8 (stripped) and wxWidgets, both as of 2005/01/24 (wxWidgets from CVS) and put it on <http://mac-dev.de/amule/>

This version worked ""pretty good"" for me. It just crashed after running for 4d18h right now w/o obvious reason.

i have extracted and installed the zips on my iBook, MacOS 10.3.8 and DevTools installed, but i think installation of wxWidgets does not depend on the DevTools.

install aMule: just extract the archive.
install wxWidgets: extract wxmac.zip in your home directory. start a terminal session and do:
bash> cd ~/wxmac/wxWidgets/build
bash> sudo make install

the wxmac archive contains the (extracted and rearchived) source of wxWidgates for Mac as retrieved from CVS on 2005/01/24. If installation does not work or aMule does not work afterwards, recompile as written in the HowTo in this forum. Post a "yee it works" or "doesn't work for " here.

thanks.

Now that I think of it, what's that about me posting a new version? when did I do that? I only compiled a version for 2 or 3 testers and it's in no way public (it's dangerous!). So which version are we talking about?

Will be funny if you guys are finding differences between SAME version :)

outch, my bad: the binary from the berlios link above is actually unchanged. i didn't realize that kry had posted the new test version on amule.org.

i guess this illustrates that we really need better transparency with the binaries. i think best would be a sticky thread with brief info about the origin/date of the binary, and maybe one or two links to older versions.

:D... OK, now I understand. I was really comparing the behavior of an old version with my middle-aged self compiled version from around new year 2004 and thought the old version is a new one hehe. Sorry for the troubles, too!
