Sloooow downloads
« on: February 20, 2005, 07:02:00 PM »

I downloaded the Mac binary and downloads were so slow, the total speed peaking at 4-5 KBps, and the usual speed at 0-0,1 KBps, with a 50:1 ratio.
This link suggested that a more recent version from the CVS could be the solution, so I've downloaded the 2-20-2005 CVS snapshot, following the exact instructions from the wiki to compile&install. It has worked fine, I'm pretty sure that the version I'm running is the one I've compiled, but I'm suffering the same problem: slow downloads. Am I missing anything? Is there any way I can help? I can't code in C/C++, but I'll upload a dump/trace/whatever if it is of any help.
BTW, how can I make sure that I'm using the same userhash?

Hi faibistes,
no, I don't think you missed something. As it was me posting the info about better download behaviour, I'm trying to reply: I'm downloading and compiling dayly the newest cvs version from hirnriss.net (just out of booredom). A long time, downloads were not only slow but also people uploading to me got disconnected very soon after beginning to upload . I felt, the latter has improved around the date of the cited thread. That was all, download speed varys greatly here, but I'm to tired, to make comparison between Linux and OS X, so I don't know if other clients/platforms are doing better.
regards, sssnake
