m2kio, you have some strange behavior when aMule is minimized.  Are you just using the normal, built-in minimize to the dock.  Do you have any extensions/hacks installed to change minimization functionality?  For instance, I know there are hacks to make windows minimize to mini-windows on the desktop instead of to the dock.

hi ken,

no, i don't think so. the only thing 'special' is 'MenuMeters' which hacks into the menu bar. besides that a plain updated Mac OSX 10.3.8. (ok, some drivers too: ATI display, Logitech desktop, Agfa SnapScan) The classic environment was running.

aMule/Mac runs very well, for days w/o problems. actually most bothering is the low ul/dl ratio. i just also post any other event which happens. maybe it can be fixed. ;)

Hi,

This append to me several times already. The computer is still running but nothing can be done. the mous still lightened but the keyboard doesn't respond anymor (caps lock , num locks, ...). Is that the same symptoms ?
I can affirm that in my cases amule was not minimized.
The problems happened long time before I update to 10.3.8 and amule was NOT minimized. It happened to me a lot one or two monthes ago then stopped and three days ago another one. In my feeling it happens more often when I let runnin amule alone with another p2p program (actually bittorrent).

Ah. The only fancy stuff I have on my mac is APE but I have no modules installed.

This used to happen sometimes when I let it working all night long, so I have no really usefull information about this.

Clément.

My whole mac. But I can't be sure cause it happens when the screen is disabled. And I'm not able to reactivate it. It could be that just aMule is hanging up and that I'm not able to switch to another app. I tried almost all key sequences I know that could have an effect and pointed with the mouse madly every where (although difficult to say without the screen on).
I charge aMule for that because each time it happend I had it working but it could also be another problem (screen saver ? internet connection ?)

clem2610, I had that problem happen repeatedly with BitTorrent.  Basically, I think it is opening too many simulataneous connections and the OS is locking up because of it.  Doesn't reflect well on Mac OS X, but I've still only ever had it happen with BitTorrent.

With bitTorrent alone or together with aMule ?
If alone then I just apologize I blamed aMule wrongly.

Sorry.

Sorry, clem2610, I wasn't clear.  BitTorrent alone locks my system up.  No aMule involved.  Obviously, I no longer use BitTorrent.  :)

No need to apologize.  We're all learning together.  :)

Also, you may have a different experience than me.  Maybe, for you, the lock-up only happens with both.

if you have little snitch running disable it and see whether that makes a difference.

you didn't say which bittorrent client you were using, in addition to the official one there are azureus, tomato torrent and bits on wheels that you can try. :)

Thanks for the suggestions, lionel77.  I was using the official one called, simply, BitTorrent.  I do not have Little Snitch.  If I have occasion to need a torrent client in the future, I'll keep those other clients in mind.  :)
