The reason for the "complexity" of the numbering is because of the underlying complexity of what is or can be known about sources. The possibilities include:
- You know about a source
- You are connected to a source and on its queue
- A source doesn't have any parts that you need for the file
- You have asked for another file from a source
- You are currently receiving file data from a source
You sound like you think you're the only person downloading files over the ed2k network -- like you expect to immediately be downloading from every source known to you. There are other people out there. Sources can only service so many at a time. You have to wait in line for your turn. Life is harsh in this big bad world -- and in the ed2k network, too.
