aMule disconnects my net connection
« on: December 02, 2005, 07:50:39 PM »

Hey people, my first time here, unfortunately(because it's about a problema i have). I use amule since December 2004 and this never happened to me before. Since last Mac Os software update, amule has been acting strange. I open it and connect to a server, anda after about 10 minutes, it disconnects my net connection. I don't have any idea why he's doing this... maybe it's some problem with the system update? Anyone of you has been experiencing this?

Which OS update are you talking about? The 10.4.3 update, the recent 2005-009 security update, or yet another update?

I'm not able to run amule on my Tiger machine anymore, so I can neither confirm nor disconfirm your observations.

I hope there is a different reason for your issues -- that would be just awesome if Apple managed to break aMule again, a month after they fixed the stuck connections issue...

Has anybody else installed Security Update 2005-009 and can comment on this issue?

I'm using fully updated Tiger and not seeing anything like the problem Manny is describing.  Of course, I'm still stuck at low-ID, so I might not be exercising the OS's network parts in the same way.  However, I doubt it's the system update.

It might be that your ISP has started to punish people who run p2p file sharing programs.  It might also be that your router has gotten itself into a weird state.  You might try rebooting it and/or turning it off, waiting a few seconds, and then turning it back on.  Also, you might try lowering your preference settings for Max. Connections, Max. New Connections / 5 secs, and possibly your Upload and Download Bandwidth limits.
