A couple of questions
« on: January 27, 2006, 05:34:36 PM »

1 - How do I preview my downloads? I've read the " read me " instructions and properly set the VLC player path in " Directories ". Now what? I've double-clicked an incoming file in the aMule browser for a test, but nothing happened, any tip please?
2 - Why is Kademilla " firewalled "? Do I need to configure something? Is Kademilla really useful to download or E2k is enough?
Thanx in advance

Hello braxio!

1. You have to right-click the file and choose 'Preview xxx.part'. This option will be greyed out, if you don't have some necessary parts (especially the first and the last chunk).

2. You have to open/forward your udp-port (default is 4672) in any firewalls and routers.
Check if you have opened/forwarded the ports 4662tcp, 4665udp and 4672udp, see the wiki for some more help.
Some other answers can be found here.

also unter prefs-->directories you need to specify the video-player.
since you are on MacOS, I would suggest you to search the MacOS forum, since if I remeber correctly you not only needed to put there

vlc

but also some option behind it.

Thanx, but:
1- I have a one-click mouse, so no right or left click is possible.
2 - I really don't know how to do that. I tried the help option on my mac, but couldn't find anything helpful there. I suppose you're a mac user, could you please help writing a few lines?
Thanx a lot for your patience

About the clicking issue, see this thread

Unfortunatly I'm everything else but a Mac user, just a modest Linux user.

I know that there's a firewall on your mac, but I don't know exactly how to configure it.
You have to tell us wheter you've a router.

If you have a High-ID on ed2k it's possible, that Stefanero's answer in the other thread (I linked it in my first answer) may be the issue. If the status didn't change after about 30 minutes it's probably a problem regarding the ports.

I have a Starbridge  EU router but there's no way to know how to forward ports to it on my Mac. As for the rest, Mac puters come with a one-click-only mouse, that's the prob.

Oops! I've checked that link and yes, now a pop up window appears...so thanx but...there's no option there to preview files...

Edit by Wuischke: Merged your two post.

2 more questions
« Reply #8 on: January 27, 2006, 06:59:36 PM »

1 - I see the older aMule versions for Mac worked much better than the newer ones. Any chance to get them back again? I've found the Dec. 2005 version here, but the dl's are very slow ( 2 kb's average ) and the same happens with the latest version. Any chance for me to restore the May 2005 ( at least I think it was May ) version downloading it from somewhere? Unfortunately I trashed it when the new versions came through.

2 - I've been assigned a low id and I was with aMule previous versions as well. But, I never happened to see the upper arrow become red after my first connection ( they both were yellow before ). Is it significant or meaningless? Thanx

I guess you are/understand Italian (I do not understand much.), google showed me emuleitalia.net/fora/index.php?showtopic=4963 as an solution for the low-id problem.

If this does not help, we have to deal with your mac-firewall.

Hey wuischke,
I really can't find the right words to thank you!!! I've been there and have been consequently able to reset my router and get a high id ( the lower arrow is green, the upper yellow ) and my dl's seem to go much faster now. So thanx thanx thanx!!!!!!!!!
