Do first a modprobe ip_conntrack

ip_conntrack is probably built as an additional module to iptables.

no output at all.. returns me to the prompt (not installed?)

as a little correction to what stated in the previous messages, it seems that sometimes amule is not really stuck "dead"... only reacts with a progressively increasing delay..
e.g. clicking on a button takes more than a minute to have effect...

and seeing the router led blinking let me think that maybe is some kind of GUI problem, while other processes in the background run (I hope) regularly...

but.. are all amule users experiencing this problem or only a restricted group?

No, i have the same problem, my amule hangs  after 4, 5 or 6 hours. But i don't have a router like you. Currently i'm using aMule 1.2.1 on Gentoo 1.4 (kernel 2.4.22)

PS: Sorry for my english i'm french
