No sources untill restart
« Reply #31 on: July 31, 2005, 03:54:15 AM »

Hello guys,

I noticed this  aswell, today I tried to d/l some files via ed2k and the search feature, I waited over 14h'rs, it only worked when I restarted aMule.

"aMule 2.0.3 using wxGTK2 v2.6.0 (Unicoded) (OS: Linus)" FC4 to be precise.

I tried increasing my connection limit to 3000, but that didn't work.

I'm connecting from France and my ISP is wanadoo.

Keep up the good work guys  :)

Cheers

Debian, latest version, added files from search window.
No sources in about 20 hours.

Greetings

I have noticed the same behavior. Very annoying. Happens using either linux or solaris, so is not OS related. Both using wx2.6.1 unicode.

Regards.

A while back, somebody suggested that removing bad servers resolved the issue. Could you try disabling auto-adding of servers from clients and reduce your server list to only contain servers you know work and see what happens?

Have only Donkey, Sonny Boy and Big Bang servers in server list and no list update features.
That does not help.

But changing server can help, but it does only sometimes.

Sonny Boy and Big Bang are fake RIAA servers...

The Sonny Boy ones yes, but the Big Bang ones are imho not fake servers.

Fake RIAA servers? Thanks, for the hint.

1. That could well be, because the failure has become recent for me only in the last weeks, and 2.0.3 is significantly older.

2. Then the problem should not be with only KAD enabled.

Is there some good information about fake RIAA and some better servers?

OK, try the following:

Make sure that the follwing options are deactivated (in Preferences->Server): "Auto-update serverlist at startup", "Update serverlist when connecting to a server" and "Update serverlist when a client connects"

Remove all servers and then add the follwing ones:
Razorback 2: http://ed2k://|server|195.245.244.243|4661|
Donkey Server No1: http://ed2k://|server|62.241.53.2|4242|
Donkey Server No2: http://ed2k://|server|62.241.53.16|4242|

Then let us know if the problem persists or not. :)

i have the exact same problem.

i'm running amuled (2.0.3) and access it via amuleweb...
when adding new files amuled does not search for new sources (even after 24h+)...
but when i restart amuled it gets 300+ sources as soon as it connects with razorback...
any ideas?

OK, I did that and additionally loaded the IP filter file http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/ipfilter.dat

(is there a better one?)

Result:
No more problems for now. Sources are found as normal (takes three minutes or so). Also, if there are only 3 or 6 sources for a file.

Nice, Arichy . :)
It would be great if you could keep this setup running for a few more days and then report whether you still did not have any issues with sources. This way we could be pretty sure that it is in fact a bad server issue.

Kry, the problem with that theory is that we should still be asking the local server for sources. So unless that server is bad as well ...
